Camp at Glen Derwent

We invite self contained campers to stay in the grounds of Glen Derwent. We provide access to town water and a mix of powered and unpowered mowed grass sites. No shower or toilet facilities provided. No generators to be used.

Please read all details below for powered sites, unpowered sites, water, power, wastewater, rubbish, dogs and campfires.

There is no site office. Payments are processed automatically on day of check-in. For any changes to your booking or for cancellations, please email details to stay@glenderwent.com.

If you arrive without a booking, park in the holding area and book online before proceeding to your selected site.

Glen Derwent Tea Rooms are open every day except public holidays from 10am to 4pm. 

POWERED SITES

  • Sites 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the western camp area adjacent to solar paddock.
  • Site 8 adjacent to the barn.
  • Site 12 to the east, adjacent to the garden shed.

UNPOWERED SITES

  • Sites 6 and 7 in the western camp area adjacent to solar paddock.
  • Sites 9, 10 and 11 adjacent to the orchard.
  • Sites 13-17 in eastern paddocks.

WATER

  • Town water is available to fill your tanks and containers.
  • Only take water from locations marked with blue stars on the site map.
  • Do not use water from sources not marked on the map. 

POWER

  • 15 amp power outlets are marked with red stars on the site map. 
  • Sites 1, 2 and 3 access power at the eastern end of the solar panels.
  • Sites 4 and 5 access power at the western end of the solar panels.
  • Site 8 accesses power inside the barn.
  • Site 12 accesses power at the south-east corner of the adjacent shed.


WASTEWATER

  • The nearest public dump point is at 4 Page Avenue, New Norfolk, adjacent to the New Norfolk Caravan Park.
  • Grey water is not to be discharged on site at Glen Derwent. 

RUBBISH

  • Council bins are provided for rubbish and recycling:
    • green bin + yellow lid = rubbish
    • yellow bin + yellow lid = recycling
  • We also provide a smaller green bin with green lid for compostables. 
  • A set of bins is located near the barn and another set is located near the garden shed. 

DOGS

Dogs are welcome but must be on leash or contained at all times. 

CAMPFIRES

Visit the Tasmanian Fire Service website or call 1800 000 699 to check if there are fire bans in place. 

Before you light a fire, familiarise yourself with the Tasmanian Fire Service guide to using fire safely outdoors. Use elevated fire pits and your own firewood.
